 Jinju fortress was built in the 5th year of King Woo(1379) of the Koryo Dynasty with a 1,700m stone wall enclosing an area of 176,840§³. There was the famous Jinju Castle Battle started in the year of Imjin(1592) and about 70,000 militia corps laid down their lives in its defense nets year,
the year of Kyesa(1593). The castle was also called Choksok Castle after Choksok Pavilion. There are many historic relics on thhis site such as the Sojangdae and Pukchangdae Lookouts, Changyolsa Shrine, and Nangae Shrine.
