Dongmak Beach

The surroundings of Dongmak beach are different from others by one particular thing. That is Mani Mountain standing high at the back of the beach. It's a remarkable experience to swim in the water enjoying the beautiful scenery of the mountain. You may feel as if you are under mountain's escort.
Some people prefer climbing mountain first and then cooling off down in the beach. Moderate in its size, neither too large nor too small, its sandy beach is surrounded by pine trees of 200 to 300 years old. Dongmak is a place where both swimming and mountaineering are possible.

There are four tourist homes in Dongmak. Somehow you can take a mountaineering path to the top of Mani Mountain and drop in at Chongsu Temple on your way down. At the foot of the mountain, there is Hamhodongchon Model Camp Site which is very popular among students. It is a natural valley where Saint Hamho did penance while staying at Chongsu Temple. The word Hamhodongchon written by the saint himself is found on a base rock which extends 200m wide. Other than 3 designated camp sites, it has field kitchens, wooden beds, chairs and restrooms, attracting young people and group tourists. It can accommodate 2,000 people at a time.
