Dopiansa Temple |
Dopiansa Temple was built in 865, the 5th
year of the reign of King Gyeongmun of the Unified Silla period.
When the Great Monk Doseon-guksa arrived at this place with his
one thousand disciples, he was enchanted by the beautiful surroundings.
He later built a temple here and named it "Dopiansa Temple".
(Pian or Faramita means an "eternal place to rest"). In
this temple are the iron-made Vairocana Buddha (National Treasure
No. 63) and the 4.1 meter-high, three-story stone pagoda (Treasure
No.223) |
