The
2,000km long Kwonkeumsung
Fortress is perched on a steep
rocky mountain at an elevation of 800 meters. It surrounds
a wide stone site, and covers some 250,000 square meters.
This fortress is believed to have been named after two
generals, Kwon and Gum, who built it in preparation
for a war during the Shilla period. Visitors who take
the time to make the steep climb will be rewarded by
breath-taking views of Outer Sorak and the East Sea.
