The Disturbance in Korea Outbroken on June 25, 1950 (The Korean War)

 

  At 04:00 hrs on June 25, 1950, 160,000 of the People's Army and 34,000 of Security Army of the North Korea, 194,000 soldiers in total, invaded the South Korea illegally, with 242 Tanks, 20 Fighter Planes, 172 Cannons and 1,258 Howitzers, and caused 2 million and some soldiers and civilians of dead or wounded both the South and North Koreans for three years and one month until the signing of cease fire agreement, and the tragedy of internal strife was taken place.


The Incheon Landing Operations and Establishment of P.O.W Camp

 


  Due to the Incheon Landing Operations on September 15, 1950, the number of the captured People's Army increased surprisingly, and though P.O.W.s were interned at Geojeri in Pusan and Yeongcheon of Kyongbuk, there were regional problems on management of countless P.O.W.s, and therefore, Koje Island was selected to locate P.O.W. Camp as it is distant from the hard fought field and also is easy for transporting P.O.W.s, and the Camp was established on 3.6 million PYONG centering Gohyon Suwol District on November 27, 1950. And the Camp interned 53,588 P.O.W.s from Pusan for the first time in February 1951, 150,000 P.O.W.s of People's Army, 20,000 P.O.W.s of Red China, and 3,000 P.O.W.s of Women and Volunteer Army, and so forth 173,000 P.O.W.s in total in May.
